Rwanda calls itself Land of a Thousand Hills, and from our rooftop you can see why — the valleys fold one into the next like pages of a book nobody has finished writing. 2000 Hotel sits in Kiyovu, the quiet old quarter at the edge of the business district, within walking distance of everything that matters and within view of everything you came to see.
We took the name of our restaurant, Bamboo, from the groves that line the hills to the north. We named ourselves after the building's address. Everything else — the hospitality, the palette, the point of view — came from the country around us.
